NEW Classes and Instructors!

Darcy's Academy of Dance is proud to welcome two new instructors to our faculty. Although, both of these extremely talented individuals are not really "new" to Darcy's at all, as they have both studied here for years, and have occasionally taught classes or workshops in the past...

KATIE McHENRY - Katie started dancing at the Academy when Darcy first opened her doors in 1993, and danced all the way through until her high school graduation. She was an award-winning member of Darcy's Dance Company who won numerous titles, and went on to teach ballet and tap at Jill Reineer's School of Performing Arts in Cortlandt, NY. Katie was also captain of Cortlandt Dancework's Hip Hop Team, while studying to get her Bachelor's Degree in elementary education. Katie will be teaching a number of classes on Saturdays.

LIANA WRIGHT-MARK - As an actress, singer and dancer, Liana will be teaching the new "Triple Threat" classes, intended to get you ready for stage musical performances and auditions. Liana was also an award-winning member of Darcy's Dance Company, and has studied at the Academy and at Broadway Dancer Center. She has appeared in Putnam Valley Theatre Work's productions in lead roles - as "Mrs. Lovett" in Sweeney Todd, and as "Polly Baker" in Crazy for You...for which she won the Helen Hayes Metropolitan Youth Theater Award for "Best Dance Performance." Her approach to teaching acting is taken from her studies at Atlantic Theater Company, Stella Adler, and The New York Film Academy, at which she recently completed shooting a series of short films. As a singer, Liana has been studying with Katie Agresta (vocal coach to Cyndi Lauper, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Annie Lenox and more), and utilizes the same training approach -- and regularly performs in clubs and at concerts.

Calling all Cheerleaders and Gymnasts (and ASPIRING gymnasts)

Do your kids want to learn the floor tricks of gymnastics without having to work on all the other pieces of apparatus? If so - this a class for you! It's your chance to learn cartwheels, back walkovers, back layouts, back handsprings, arials, and more.

Cheerleaders...THIS is where you can learn all of your floor tricks!

Our newly-revised Acro class will be a fun, hour-long adventure with Darcy Baia and Jason Haag instructing. Classes will be held Fridays at 4:30 pm (Intermediate level) and 5:30 pm (Advance Level).

Darcy's Academy of Dance in the Mahopac Columbus Day Parade

On Sunday, October 4th, dancers from Darcy's Academy made their third annual appearance in Mahopac's Columbus Day Parade. After marching the length of the Parade, members of Darcy's Dance Company performed "A Soldier's Heart" at the reviewing stand, which was filmed for local cable television. It was a beautiful day in Mahopac, filled with true community spirit, and the Academy was honored to be invited to participate once again.

Darcy's Academy Goes Apple Picking at Wilken's Farm

Darcy recently organized an Academy trip to Wiklen's Farm, where dozens of dancers descended upon the farm for some Fall fun!...

Six Flag's Great Adventure Plays Host to Darcy's Academy As Group Screams Their Brains Out at FRIGHT FEST!!

Over 50 of Darcy's Dancers and extended family ventured to Jackson, NJ for a day of rides, and a night of terror, as Darcy organized yet another outing...this time to FRIGHT FEST at Six Flag's Great Adventure. Scaredy cats and brave (undead) souls alike had a ghoulishly great time!...
